Patients, when referred by a physician, can receive a variety of health care services at home through Hospice and Home Care of Juneau (HHCJ). Professional services including nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and social work are provided to qualified home health patients in conjunction with personal care, when needed, delivered by Certified Nurse Aides.
Additionally, HHCJ offers hospice care at home to patients diagnosed with a terminal illness. Hospice services are directed at pain management and symptom control with an understanding that psychological and spiritual pain are just as significant as physical pain. Therefore, hospice patients may receive all of the professional services offered to home health patients in combination with in-home volunteer support and individual and family grief and bereavement counseling.
Hospice and Home Care of Juneau also provides the community with several options for addressing bereavement issues related to a loss through death other than our in-home, physician prescribed services. Adult bereavement support groups offered in the fall and spring meet weekly for eight weeks each. And, at least one children’s and family grief support group is offered annually depending on need.
