“The Board of Directors will look close to home for a successor to Rosemary. It won’t be easy to find someone with her broad knowledge of Southeast Alaska and unique set of management skills,” said Bishop Edward J. Burns, board president.
Hagevig joined CCS as executive director in 1999 after eight years on the Board of Directors. She will continue to serve through a transition period with her successor.
Catholic Community Service (CCS) is a comprehensive, mission-driven agency providing services to seniors and adults with disabilities through Southeast Senior Services (SESS), to children and families through its Child Care & Family Resources (CCFR) division, and to people who need in-home care and/or end-of-life palliative care through our Hospice and Home Care of Juneau division.
CCS was incorporated as a non-profit organization on January 23, 1973, to meet social service needs throughout Southeast Alaska. In 1974, SESS began by opening senior centers in Angoon, Juneau, Ketchikan and Sitka, and this program evolved into 14 senior centers serving 16 Southeast communities.
In their search for a new executive director CCS will be seeking an individual familiar with:
Strategic planning
Board functioning
Resource development
Human resources management
Legislative advocacy
Financial management of a complex program array and multiple funding sources
Program development
Grants and contracts management
Applicants need not be Catholic but familiarity with Catholic social principles (link) is a must. A master’s degree in social work, administration or an equivalent degree in a related field, and seven or more years of demonstrated management experience, including at least three years in a social services agency, are preferred.
Resumes will be accepted through February 17, 2012. Those interested in applying may submit their resume to Human Resources Manager, Carleen Mitchell by e-mail at carleen.mitchell@ccsjuneau.org or by fax at 907-463-6144.
