Chalk Art Festival FAQ

Q. What are the registrations levels?

A. There are registration levels for adults over the age of 18 and students age 12-18. Kids under the age of 12 are invited to participate in our kids program. No registration is necessary for the kids program and space is available on a first come, first served basis.

Q. I’m an adult that would like to participate with someone at the student level. Will we be in the adult or student category?

A. Each individual will pay the registration fee at their level but for the purposes of judging your work will be judged in the adult categories.

Q. How many people can be on a term?

A. Up to three people can be on a team.

Q. What do I receive with my registration fee?

A. On the day of the event all registrants will receive an event tote bag with a box of 24 color soft pastels, an event t-shirt and water bottle. Individuals and teams will be provided with a drawing surface and carpet squares for kneeling. A hospitality suite will be available for participants with beverages, snacks and supplies.

Q. How do I pay for my registration?

A. Payment can be made with a credit card or check. You may come directly to the Catholic Community Service office at 419 6th Street or you may fax your credit card number to our secure fax line at 463-6144. All credit card numbers will be destroyed after the registration fee is charged.  Checks made out to Catholic Community Service can also be submitted with your registration form. You will receive confirmation of your registration by e-mail or in writing.

Q. Who judges the artwork?

A. Two categories- Best Use of Medium and Best Use of Theme- will be judged by the Nugget Mall Merchants. There will also be a People’s Choice Award. Spectators will be invited to vote on which work of art they like best. Judging will begin at 4 PM on May 23rd and the names of winners will be posted at our web site on Monday, May 24th.

Q. What happens to the Art Work after the event?

A. Art work will be displayed at the Nugget Mall during the week of May 24-30. Artist may choose to donate their artwork to Catholic Community Service to display in our offices or they may pick up their art work at our offices after June 1.
