As a social service agency, Catholic Community Service (CCS) has developed the expertise and reputation necessary to provide an array of programs and services. In order to maintain quality and best practices of our programs and services, we must continually access our needs.
CCS opened its doors and hearts to the poor and vulnerable families of Juneau in January 1974 with the opening of the St. Ann’s Child Care Center. Six Jesuit Volunteers staffed this program. Today this agency celebrates its 35thYear Anniversary with an $8 million budget, 250 employees and over 500 volunteers providing comprehensive services to:
Seniors and adults with disabilities through Southeast Senior Services (SESS) division;
Children and families through its Child Care & Family Resources (CCFR) division; and,
People who need in-home care and end-of-life services, through its Hospice and Home Care of Juneau (HHCJ) division.
CCS has a proven track record of initiating and managing effective programs and continues to be a leader in Alaskain originating innovative social services programs. All grants and contracts are managed by CCS’s professional accounting staff. CCS’s auditors, Elgee, Rehfeld & Mertz, perform annual audits, including federal and state single audits. Our auditors spend more than 50% of their time auditing our compliance with state and federal grant requirements. CCS consistently receives clean audits with no instances of non-compliance, and no questionable costs.
CCS successfully manages over 50 grants and contracts annually. In all of our granting and contractual relationships, we have clearly demonstrated our ability to meet project timelines, work cooperatively with granting agency staff, meet budget requirements, and provide quality services. We have successfully applied and administered Tier I and II grants from the Rasmusson Foundation, operations and capital grants from the State of Alaska, grants from and contracts with the City and Borough of Juneau, and numerous grants from local governmental entities and from private foundations. With the cross-section expertise of both our 13 member board of directors and executive team, we satisfy the terms of our agreement and successfully expend the dollars.
